Ready for Holiday Sewing? We are!

This lovely cooler weather has us looking forward to the fall and winter months ahead... now is the time to start sewing if you want to have some holiday décor and gifts ready for December!  Luckily we've been stocking up on everything you will need, check out some of our favorite winter and holiday fabrics:

First up, some cute little penguins, trees, and snowmen from Makower UK:

Then a snowy panel and coordinates from Henry Glass:

(Love this stripe, it just begs to become a table runner or mantle scarf to cozy up your home:)
If you're looking for holiday glitz, we have that too, with a panel and coordinates from Robert Kaufman:
Snow Day from John Sloane and Wilmington Prints celebrates an old-fashioned streetscape sparkling with snow:

Candles Bright from Alexander Henry celebrates the Festival of Lights:
And two more panels celebrate the Christmas holiday:

All this and more await you at the shop!  Remember, we're open until 7:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

New Fabric

We have loads of new fabric to share this week:

Aunt Grace Ties One On from Marcus Fabrics

Wouldn't these sailboats make a sweet baby quilt for a family who enjoys the water?  Or a simple bag to carry summer supplies!
Michael Miller Stack
This modern stack from Michael Miller features two bright and cheery animal prints; birdies and deer:
Michael Miller's Flock
Michael Miller Open Season
And we have several beautiful panels and their coordinates: (Panels are 24" wide by 42" high)
Nature Panel
Nature Coordinates
Here we did some simple patchwork to make the panel look like a scene through a window:
Marbella Panel
Marbella's Coordinates
Fantasy Island Panel
And this in not a panel, rather a stripe that runs continuously along the length of the fabric (about 20" wide, there are two side by side running down the bolt.)  This would be excellent for wide borders, strippy quilts, or just to frame and use as-is in a small nook of your home.
Midnight Garden Stripe
Finally, check out these amazing stripes, by Stephanie Brandenburg for Frond Studios:
Rainbow Colorway
Cool Colorway
Each image shows the entire (42") width of the fabric.  See how the black and white butterflies fly through the paint and emerge with their colors on the other side?  It's so gorgeous, you must see it in person!

Row by Row Experience has begun!

The Row-by-Row experience is a relaxing and fun new version of a shop hop.  Most shop hops involve a frantic weekend of traveling to see all the shops, but since this one is being held during the lazy days of summer, we've given you two full months to visit the shops of your choice!  From July 1st to September 2nd, each participating shop will be handing out a free pattern for a quilt row they've designed.  Most will have kits available for purchase as well.  Collect patterns from all your favorite shops, then put your rows together to make a custom quilt representing your favorite places.

Our free pattern:

The first quilter to bring in a completed quilt using at least 8 different rows (quilted, bound, and labeled) at each shop will win a bundle of 25 fat quarters (6 1/4 yards of fabric!) and a bonus prize if the quilt includes the row from that store.  You have until October 31st to show your quilt and have a chance for the prize.

Shops in 34 states and Ontario will be participating this year!  So if you'll be traveling this summer, check this link for participating shops in that area!

Most shops are also offering collectible fabric license plates.  Use these on the backing of your row-by-row quilt, sew into a tote bag, or sew on a fabric border and mount them on stretcher bars to hang on your quilt room walls.

New Fabrics!

Here's what's new in the shop this week:

Just in time for summer sewing, Grand Cayman from Marjolein Bastin, two lush tropical prints perfect for tote bags, summer skirts, and seasonal throw pillows:

Southern Je Ne Sais Quoi by Stephanie Brandenburg, also great for some fresh pillows or as the star in your next quilt:

Summerland by Skipping Stone Studio is a little more muted; this collection would make a nice throw quilt on its own, or tackle a more structured bag for year-round use:

If you'd rather think ahead for fall, we've got you covered with Sleepy Hollow and Sunflower prints from P&B, and the lovely Saffron collection from Exclusively Quilters:

And finally, a collection that's truly for all seasons; It's Elementary by Jacqueline Paton, featuring a panel for each of the four seasons plus several coordinating prints:

Hope you're inspired to do some seasonal sewing and we'll see you soon in the shop!
